Remnants of primary evergreen broad-leaved lowland forest on very steep hill slopes composed with stratified shale and sandstone at elev. about 250-300 m a.s.l.
Terrestrial herb along shady rocky stream slopes. Flowers and bracts from light green to dark brown-violet and nearly black. Common.
