Member of 1st open storey of prestine closed evergreen seasonal tropical broad-leaved submontane forests on slopes of mountains, from stream banks to near top. Fagaceae and Magnoliaceae are members of ecologically dominant 2nd storey.
Clustered some trees. Branches with ripe seed cones not fall down yet.
