Collected seedlings and saplings on top ridges of limestone mts., ca. 300-600 m a.s.l., in primary closed evergreen seasonal tropical mixte lowland forests; cultivated rarely as ornamental tree in private (Mrs Hoang Van Chiem & Hoang Van Xa) gardens on shale soils.
