Ha Giang Prov., Quan Ba Distr., Can Ty Comm., ca. 1200-1400 m, about 1 km to W of Dau Cau Vill. (around point 23005′06” N, 105001′56” E), ridges of limestone mountains.
Dominant of the second storey of primary closed evergreen conifer submontane forests where dominant is Pseudotsuga sinensis.. Usually medium sized tree, up to 10-15 x 0.3-0.4 m. Young pollen and seed cones.
