Primary closed evergreen broad-leaved lowland wet forest on steep slopes of low mountains composed with shale and granite at elevation 500-600 m a.s.l.

Shrub 2-3 m tall along humid shady rocky stream canyon. Fruits yellow, arillus brightly red. Not common.
