Primary closed evergreen broad-leaved wet forest on steep mountain slopes and along ridge composed with shale and granite at elevation 1000-1050 m a.s.l.
Terrestrial herb to 2 m tall on wet rather open slope. Floral bracts reddish. Locally common.
