Primary broad-leaved closed wet forest on very steep rocky slopes and cliffs of low remnant mountains composed with highly eroded solid marble-like limestone at elevation about 700-800 m a.s.l.
Undershrub to 1 m tall on shelves of tall shady vertical limestone cliff, particularly on wet travertine deposits. Fruits brightly red. Locally common.
