Northern Vietnam, Lao Cai Prov., Van Ban Distr., Khanh Yen Ha municipality, to the SW of Na Nheo village (in the vicinity of point 21°57′26′'N, 104°13′00′'E). Primary evergreen broad-leaved montane forest along granite/quartzite ridge. Tree about 5 m hg in forest communities on the tops of ridge at elev. 2250 m a.s.l. Common. Usual co-dominant of first forest stratum at elev. (1200)1500-2250 m a.s.l. (on low elevations tree up to 40 m hg).
