N.Vietnam, Thanh Hoa Prov., Ba Thuoc Distr., Thanh Son Municipality, E macroslope of Pu Luong range around point 20°29′38′'N, 105°06′36′'E at elev. 600 m a.s.l. (Pha Noi pass). Secondary evergreen forest on shale soil. Big deciduous tree up to 50 m tall and 2 m in diam. Flowers whitish. Very common.
