Clustered on stream banks, in heavily logged primary seasonal tropical lowland broad-leaved forest on slopes of granite mountain. At first epiphyte, then independent medium-sized evergreen tree, up to 10-15 m tall, dbh up to 0.3-0.5 m or more; stipules up to more than 10 cm long, reddish.
