Secondary forest and shrubs on foothills of remnant hills and mountains composed with stratified solid gray highly eroded limestone at elev. about 1500 m a.s.l.

Terrestrial herb up to 0.5 m tall in spring-water swamp on travertine along stream valley. Fruits orange, flower buds green. Locally common.
