Secondary open evergreen broad-leaved forest and secondary woodlands on very steep mountain slopes composed predominantly with weathered granite at elev. about 1600-1800 m a.s.l.

Shrub 2-3 m tall on steep rather open wet slope. Fruits dark red. Not rare.
