Secondary evergreen broad-leaved wet closed forest with bamboo on very steep mountain slopes and along ridges composed predominantly with weathered granite at elev. about 1900-2050 m a.s.l.
Treelet about 5 m tall on shady rocky slope near ridge edge. Fruits green with dirty purple tint. Not common.
