FLORA OF LAOS Convallariaceae Aspidistra elegans Aver. et Tillich Type
Vientiane Prov., Vang Vieng Distr., Phol Xai village, about 8 km to the W of Vang Vieng town, Phar Poon Mt., around point 18°56′11.5”N 102°20′05.0”E.
Dry broad-leaved primary and secondary evergreen forest on very steep rocky slopes and on vertical cliffs of remnant highly eroded rocky limestone mountains composed by solid crystalline limestone at elevation 300-900 m.
Terrestrial herb in shady place. Leaves dark green. Fruits rugose, globular 1-1.5 cm in diam. Common at elevation 300-500 m.
Flowered in cult. 6 May 2015. Flowers inside and outside white, free part of tepals dark dirty violet to almost black, stigma pure white, anthers yellow. Photos.
