Northern Vietnam, Lao Cai Prov., Van Ban Distr., to the west of Nam
Xay village (21°58′42′'N, 104°00′37′'E). Primary broad-leaved
evergreen wet montane forest with Fokienia hodginsii (as emergent)
on rocky slope at elev. 1650 m a.s.l. Tree 25-30 m hg. Flowers dull
light yellow, with light sweet fragrance. Usual co-dominant of first
forest stratum.

Northern Vietnam, Lao Cai Prov., Van Ban Distr., to the west of Nam
Xay village (21°58′42′'N, 104°00′37′'E). Primary broad-leaved
evergreen wet montane forest with Fokienia hodginsii (as emergent)
on very steep rocky slope near top of ridge at elev. 1750 m a.s.l. Shrub
5-7 m hg. Flowers white with pink-violet small marks. Not rare. Usual
co-dominant of shrub stratum, especially along tops of ridges.

broad-leaved montane wet forest (on granite and quartzite) with bamboo
on lower part of slope along small rocky stream at elev. 1650 m a.s.l.
Creeping terrestrial herb on wet open sandy place. Flowers light
violet, central tepal with deep violet nerves, anther yellow-orange.
Very common.

Lithophytic herb on wet mossy rocks. Very common. Usual co-dominant of riparian herb community.

Lithophytic fern on mossy sides of large stream boulders near water.
Not common.

Creeping lithophytic vine 1-2 m lg on mossy sides of large stream
boulders. Not common.
