From closest M. ovalifolia new species differs in glabrous leaves with cuneate base (vs. leaves with rounded to subcordate base, hairy on both surfaces) and pendulous, many branched, many flowered inflorescence bearing normally at least 30 flowers or more (vs. inflorescence erect with 3-12 flowers).
